# Other MCP clients

> Connect any MCP client to theStacc: the hosted server with sign-in, mcp-remote for clients without remote sign-in, or a local install with an agent key.

## Any client with remote MCP and sign-in

Add `https://mcp.thestacc.com/mcp` as a remote (streamable HTTP) MCP server. The client finds theStacc's sign-in on its own (OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration and PKCE), opens your browser, and you approve.

## Clients without remote sign-in: mcp-remote

`mcp-remote` runs on your computer, does the sign-in in your browser and passes everything through. Needs Node.js 18 or newer:

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "thestacc": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.thestacc.com/mcp"]
    }
  }
}
```

## Local install with an agent key

For tools that only run local servers, or for scripts. Create a key in theStacc (**Content SEO > Settings > Publishing > Agent access**), then:

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "thestacc": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@thestacc/mcp-server"],
      "env": { "THESTACC_AGENT_KEY": "sk_agent_..." }
    }
  }
}
```

A pasted key also works against the hosted server: send `Authorization: Bearer sk_agent_...` to `https://mcp.thestacc.com/mcp`. Details in [Local install with an agent key](/docs/developers/agent-keys-mcp#local-install-with-an-agent-key).
