# Shopify

> Publish blog posts to your Shopify store's built-in blog, choose which blog they land in, and keep them in sync.

Publish blog posts to your Shopify store's built-in blog. Posts become Shopify **blog articles**, so they show up under `yourstore.com/blogs/<blog>/...`, get a date and an author, and are indexed like any other article on your store.

## Connect your store

1. Go to **Settings > Publishing** and click **Connect Shopify**.
2. Enter your store domain. You can type just the handle (`your-store`), the full `your-store.myshopify.com`, or a pasted store URL; theStacc normalizes it to `your-store.myshopify.com`. (You'll find it in your Shopify admin URL.)
3. You're sent to Shopify to approve access. theStacc asks for two permissions: **write content** (to create and update articles) and **read products** (for product-aware content). theStacc never sees your Shopify password.
4. After you approve, theStacc connects, picks a blog to publish to, and makes Shopify the active destination. If your store has no blog yet, theStacc creates one named **News**.

As with every destination, connecting Shopify turns off whatever was active before. One destination at a time per project.

## Choose the blog and how posts go out

Click **Settings** on the Shopify card to change two things:

* **Blog.** A Shopify store can have several blogs (for example *News* and *Guides*). Pick the one theStacc should publish into. New posts go to the selected blog; posts already published stay where they are.
* **Publishing behavior.**
  * **Publish immediately.** The article is live on your store as soon as theStacc publishes it. This is the default.
  * **Save as hidden draft.** The article is created in Shopify but stays unpublished until you make it visible in **Shopify admin > Online Store > Blog posts**. Use this if you want a final look inside Shopify before anything goes live.

The card shows the current blog and behavior, so you can tell at a glance where posts will land.

## What gets published

Each post is created as one article with its title, full content, featured image (Shopify copies the image to its own CDN), summary, and tags. Links back to your site are absolute, and the article's URL slug comes from the post's slug in theStacc.

## Editing, unpublishing, and deleting

* **Sync.** Edit a published post in theStacc and click **Sync changes**. theStacc updates the same Shopify article in place; the URL does not change.
* **Unpublish.** The article is hidden from your store but stays in Shopify admin as an unpublished article. **Republish** makes it visible again.
* **Delete.** theStacc asks you to unpublish a post before deleting it, so by the time you delete, the article is already hidden on your store. Deleting the post in theStacc does not remove the article from Shopify admin; remove it there if you want it gone entirely.

## Reconnecting

If the connection is lost, for example because the theStacc app was uninstalled from your store or a store owner changed, you'll see *"Shopify access token is invalid or expired. Please reconnect."* Click **Reconnect** on the Shopify card (or **Connect Shopify** again) to re-authorize. Your blog choice and publishing behavior are kept.

## Good to know

* Only project admins can connect, switch, or change Shopify settings.
* Uninstalling the theStacc app from Shopify disconnects the destination on our side automatically. Published articles are not touched.
* Shopify's blog does not support scheduling through the API in the way theStacc schedules posts; theStacc handles the schedule and publishes at the chosen time.
