An XML sitemap is a file that lists all the important pages on your website, helping search engines discover and index your content more efficiently. It includes metadata like when each page was last updated, how often it changes, and how important it is relative to other pages. While not required, a sitemap significantly improves indexation for new sites, large sites, and sites with complex navigation.

The builder assembles a standard site structure — homepage, services, blog, about, contact, pricing and so on — under your domain, assigns each entry a sensible changefreq and priority, and outputs a valid sitemap.org XML file plus a visual tree. It runs entirely in your browser and makes no network requests, so it never visits your website. Treat the output as a starting scaffold: edit the URL list to match your real pages before you upload it.

Changefreq tells search engines how often a page is likely to change. The builder applies the convention most SEOs use, by page type: homepage and news get "daily", blog posts and product pages get "weekly", static pages like About and Contact get "monthly", and archived content gets "yearly". Because the builder has not seen your site, these are conventions applied to a template — check them against how often your pages actually change.

Priority values (0.0 to 1.0) tell search engines which pages you consider most important. This builder assigns them by page type and depth from the homepage: homepage 1.0, top-level categories 0.8-0.9, service and static pages 0.7-0.8, blog posts 0.6, archived content 0.5. It cannot count internal links, because it does not read your site. Adjust the values if your own priorities differ. Google treats priority as a weak hint at best.

After generating your sitemap, download the XML file and upload it to your website root directory (e.g., yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml). Then go to Google Search Console, select your property, navigate to Sitemaps, enter the URL of your sitemap, and click Submit. Google will then crawl and index the pages listed in your sitemap.

The URL list comes from a standard site structure applied to your domain, trimmed to the path depth and page limit you choose. It is not a discovered list of your real pages, so it will include paths you do not have and miss paths you do. Delete, rename, and add entries in the generated XML until it matches your site.
