An XML sitemap is a file, usually at yourwebsite.com/sitemap.xml, that lists the pages you want search engines to find. It helps new and deep pages get discovered, but only if it lists the right pages: working, indexable, canonical URLs. This generator builds the file from your real site, so broken, redirected and noindex pages stay out.
How it works
- Enter your website and choose how many pages to check.
- We crawl your pages. We start at your homepage, follow your internal links, and also check the URLs in your current sitemap. Login, cart, search and tracking URLs are skipped.
- You review and download. You get sitemap.xml, a comparison with your current sitemap, and every page left out with its reason.

Sitemap tips
- List only pages you want in search. A sitemap full of redirects and errors wastes crawl time and makes the file less trusted.
- Keep it current. Regenerate after adding or removing sections, or use a CMS that updates the sitemap for you.
- Link to your pages too. A sitemap helps discovery, but pages with no internal links are still hard for search engines to value.

We start at your homepage and follow the links on each page, and we also check every URL in your current sitemap if you have one. Each page is requested from our server. Pages that load (HTTP 200), are not marked noindex, point to themselves as canonical and are allowed by robots.txt go into the sitemap. Everything else is listed with the reason it was left out.
Up to 500 per run. Choose 100, 250 or 500 before you start. If more links are waiting when the limit is reached, the result tells you how many.
It was broken or did not respond, redirected to another URL (the destination is listed instead), was marked noindex, had a canonical tag pointing to another URL, was blocked by robots.txt, or was not reached before the page limit. The 'left out' list shows which.
No. Google ignores both values, so they only make the file bigger. We add lastmod only when a page states its own modified date, because a guessed date is worse than none.
Upload sitemap.xml to the root of your website so it opens at yourwebsite.com/sitemap.xml, add the line 'Sitemap: https://yourwebsite.com/sitemap.xml' to robots.txt, and submit it in Google Search Console under Sitemaps. Many CMSs (WordPress with an SEO plugin, Shopify, Wix, Webflow) create a sitemap automatically; in that case use this tool to check it.
